Description
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. The Naval Air Warfare Center Lakehurst is requesting information pertaining to the feasibility of a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) stationary, bench top Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) unit to be utilized onboard a Navy aircraft carrier's NDI shop. The unit shall occupy a space no larger than 60 in. L 30 in. W x 60 in. H. The MPI unit will allow for wet method inspections using both longitudinal and circular magnetization. A rail-aligned headstock and tailstock will be required to mount a part with a maximum length of 40 inches. A rail-mounted, multi-turned magnetizing coil with a minimum inside diameter of 16 inches is required. A means is required to recover fluid carrying magnetic particles and the ability to re-use the fluid. The power supply shall generate magnetizing current (AC and HWDC) in a MAXIMUM RANGE OF 2000 AMPS TO 1500 AMPS. The electrical input shall be compatible with the NDI shop's maximum connected electrical load, 44 KVA of 440V, single phase, 60 Hz. The power supply may be either stand-alone (portable) or integral to the bench top. Please provide descriptive literature such as commercial pamphlets, operating and maintenance manuals or any other documentation that would describe a unit or system to meet the above requirements. It is requested that information be submitted NO LATER THAN 10 OCTOBER 2002 to Ms. Lori Bishop, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Code 25221B562-1, Highway 547, Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5082, or by electronic mail at: bishopla@navair.navy.mil.
