- NA The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition is soliciting sources for the preparation of biological research materials from relevant animal models of prion disease, and the provision of those materials to qualified researchers. Of note, the main focus for this request is not for standardized reference reagents or proficiency panels (although those are not precluded) but rather for the collection of organs, tissues, cellular and body fluids, and pools of tissue specimens from infected and disease free contro l animals for rapid dissemination to the research community. Applicants would be required to propose a plan for the collection, processing, and storage of specimens and arrange dissemination to qualified researchers. The biological specimen repository would be made available to provide a variety of tissues from ani mal models of TSE to qualified researchers upon request. Such materials should be from both pre-clinical and clinical stages of disease. The program is interested in both rodent and large mammal models and cervid tissues, and recognizes the value of bot h individual samples and large tissue pools. Applicants should be aware that the emphasis of any resulting contracts is for the ?rapid? provision of experimental material to the research community.
