- Shaw AFB Industry Forum CBD Announcement Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina is seeking a private developer for a real estate housing privatization project involving 1,447 units on base. Described generally, this project involves the conveyance of 1,702 existing on-base housing units and other improvements, demolition of 804 housing units, the construction of 549 units, renovation of 464 units. The developer will operate, maintain, and manage the 1,447 units for 50 years. The Air Force expects to contribute leased land and real property and improvements, and may offer up to $3.0 in scored costs toward the financing of the project. The SO will contribute cash equity, will obtain private sector debt, and will be responsible for managing and operating the Shaw project. Shaw AFB will host an Industry Forum at Shaw AFB on 22 October 2002 at 7:30 AM and in addition, will host an Icebreaker on 21 October 2002 at 6:30 PM at the Holiday Inn Sumter. The day will include an overview of the financial and technical elements of the military housing privatization project with presentations given by the Air Force and Ernst & Young (The Privatization Support Contractor). In addition, guided tours will be conducted of the communities where the military housing units will be developed.
