Description

This project will consist of the downstream embankment slope being stripped a minimum of 2 feet normal to the slope. At the intersection of the stripping excavation with the original natural ground, a cutoff trench will be excavated to clay stone material. The trench will be construed with 1:1 side slopes and a 12-foot bottom width. Geotextile will be placed on the exposed cut slope and backfilled with earth material. The repair work will require approximately 3,300 feet of sediment fence, 82,520 cu.yds. of common excavation, 89,514 cu.yds. of earthfill, 4,336 feet of barbed wire fence, 26,977 sq.yds. of geotextile, 155 cu.yds. of flowable fill, 100 cu.yds water for earthfill, and 7 acres of disking and application of fertilizer. There are three option items; 7 acreas of sprigging, mechanical seeding, and hay mulching. Only one award will be made for the entire project. The NAICS Code is 234990. Performance period will be 204 calendar days from receipt of the Notice to Proceed date, which will be approximately September 30, 2002. A 20% bid bond will be required. Performance and payment bonds of 100% each will be required of the contractor awarded this contract. This project is unrestricted and is not set-aside for small business concerns. Price range is from $500,000 to $1,000,000. Site showing will be conducted on August 20, 2002, 10:00 A.M., at RY Sell Yard, located 2.5 miles North of Highway 83 on FM 755, Rio Grande City, Texas 78582.
