Description
This solicitation is amended to state that this is a combined solicitation and announcement. The National Marine Fisheries Service, Hollings Marine Laboratory, Department of Commerce, plans to procure a Gel Permeation Chromatography System from J2 Scientific the only known source for providing this system. The Government will accept a similar system with identified products from another vendor, however, the products must be equivalent in form and function. This equipment is needed to provide automated size exclusion chromatography for cleanup of environmental samples. This equipment will complement the existing analytical capacity of the chemical Contaminants Research Group of the Ecotoxicology Branch of the Hollings Marine Laboratory. This equipment has been selected on the basis of compatibility with anticipated systems, work flows and databases and specific technical innovations which no other vendor has at this point in time. The minimum requirements for this instrument include the ability to perform automated, unattended gel permeation chromatography (GPC) on samples for environmental analysis. This application requires multiple injection modes, including Loop Overfill, Direct Inject and Partial Loop Fill. It must operate with safety features like power fail management and solvent reservoir monitoring in order to avoid sample loss. Samples must be able to run from septa sealed vials. The data system must allow storage and retrieval of detector plots for each run, flexible programming, calculation and display of resolution results according to EPA CLP requirements and report exporting in multiple formats. The features of this GPC equipment that make it unique are its direct inject capability, 70 or more sample capacity, software control by computer touchscreen and personal digital accessory (PDA), solvent bottle level sensor that protects the GPC column from going dry, and integrated power management features which reduce the probability of sample loss. The system consists of an auto inject module, an auto sampler module, high-pressure pump system, syringe pump with syringe, UV detector and controller software. The sample is direct injected onto a GPC column and fractions are either diverted to waste or into a fraction collection tube. Safety features include solvent level monitoring. The chromatography software allows for annotation of chromatograms and automatic quality control checks with standard samples. The following specifications apply: (1) Built in Touch Screen Controller - Requires no Personal Computer for operation. (2) Includes PDA for Instrument Control and Data Acquisition. (3) Includes PC for Chromatography Data Package. (4) 5 Column Selector - Utilize multiple columns in a sequence with programmable flow-rate and equilibration times. (5) Septum Piercing capability. (6) Probe Tracking for sample pickup. (7) Direct Injection Modes: (a) Partial Loop Filling. (b) Loop Overfill. (c) Sample Bracketing Control. (D) Programmable Multiple Injections. (8) Mobile Phase Detector - Controlled via instrument software for controlled shutdown of system during a power failure. (10) GPC Calibration Report: Feature 1: Outputs Chromatograms selected for comparison. Calculates Resolution and displays pass/fail based on user settable thresholds for resolution on individual peaks. Feature 2: Compares Chromatograms for peak retention time and issues pass/fail based on user settable thresholds. (11) Waste Pumped to waste reservoir. Waste container can be placed on bench top. (12) Injector features: (a) Programmable injection volume from 1 ul to 15 mL. (b) Sample does not enter syringe during aspiration. (c) Multiple Injections from same sample. (13) Software features: (a) Open saved detector data for each sequence and sample. (b) Automatically calculates and displays resolution results according to EPA CLP requirements. (c) Annotation of peaks and selected run times. (d) Settable threshold levels. (e) Output chromatogram to electronic report or printer. (f) Report sequence details for each sample. (g) Print column calibration reports. (h) Export report as Acrobat, Excel, Word, Crystal Reports, CSV, XML, HTML, ODBC, RTF, DIF, Microsoft Mail or Text document. (i) Export to destination files on internal network. The following items are requested: GPC Systems J01-06, Autoinject 100 Module, JPalm Accuprep-pda Control Software; JPrep AccuPrep Control Software; JChrome AccuPrep Chromatography Software; 18 months free upgrades; PC Windows 2000 Pro computer, monitor, 40GB Drive, Video, 10/100 NIC Quotes J2047R3 and J2047R5; A005-03 Collection Valve Manifold; A019-00 Direct InjectionValve; TB564K5-01, Sample Loop , size TDB; A012-01 Syringe pump, syringe size TBD; J03-05 Autosampler Module; PR0802 Probe, 14", side vent; AK006-00 Septum Piercing Kit; AK201-04 Tray Kit, 25mm collection vials; J05-01 High Pressure pump and kit; AK010-04 Accuprep New Instrument Kit; A010-04 2-column Selector Valve; DT0001X2 UV Detector, 254nm, Semi-prep; PS1050 Uninterruptible Power Supply; A012-01 Syringe pump, syringe size TBDSR400X-00 Solvent Bottle Sensor; CO-775-00 Express GPC Column, 100% DCM; On-site installation and training.
