- Potential sources are being sought for an improved system to convey cartridges to United States Army light and medium machinegun feed mechanisms. The current method of using metal links to convey cartridges results in a significant amount of weight in combat loads due to the weight of the links and adds link production quality issues to production of the ammunition. Either a linkless system or an improved method to supply cartridges to light and medium machinegun feed mechanisms is required to address these issues. Desired characteristics of the linkless system or improved system include reduced weight, improved reliability, lower cost and ease of manufacture. Little or no change to gun mechanisms is desired but not required. The system may be in development or production. Respondents should submit information adequately describing the characteristics of their system. Submissions should include any available pictures, illustrations, specifications, description of operation, sample hardware, commercial price list or estimated price. This notice is a market survey and should not be construed as a commitment by the Government. Respondents should submit their data within 45 days to the Armament Research Development and Engineering Center, ATTN: AMSTA-AR-ASR, James Turner, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000.
