SPAWAR/Industry Conference 2002: Integrating Systems for Transforming the Military; 30 October - 1 November 2002 The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in cooperation with the San Diego Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) presents the 6th annual SPAWAR & Industry Conference -- "Integrating Systems for Transforming the Military" 30 October - 1 November 2002 at the Bahia Resort - Mission Bay, San Diego. The consolidated two-day unclassified conference will feature plenary sessions, keynote speakers, and multi-track breakout sessions. The breakout sessions will permit attendees to focus on their specific SPAWAR business areas and learn what business opportunities may be available from SPAWAR Headquarters; the Program Managers; the Systems Centers located in Charleston SC, Chesapeake VA, and San Diego, CA; and the Information Technology Center in New Orleans, LA. Only those programs of record that have present or future contracting opportunities will be briefed at the conference. A Kick-Off reception will take place at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, 30 October, aboard the sternwheeler "William D. Evans." The "William D. Evans" will depart the Bahia Hotel pier at 6:30 p.m. All registered attendees and program participants are invited to attend. Conference participants may bring guests on the cruise with the purchase of a guest ticket at time of registration/check-in. "William D. Evans" will cruise Mission Bay for approximately 2 hours, returning to the Bahia pier approximately 8:30 p.m. On 30 October, tours of SPAWAR, the NMCI NOC, USS Coronado and other commands will be available. The San Diego Business Journal is presenting a Symposium "Doing Business With The Government" which will feature focused workshops presented by NDIA, SPAWAR, SSC-SD, and AFCEA. In conjunction with this event, the Navy League will also host an "Operational Commanders Assessment" on Tuesday, 29 October, featuring local senior Operational Commanders. The conference will close on Friday 1 November with an NDIA-sponsored Awards Banquet beginning with a reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by Dinner and Speaker at 7:00 p.m. in the Bahia Ballroom. Separate tickets are required for this event and may be purchased when registering for the conference.
