Description
It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure professional services on a sole source basis with David Cantor, Silver Spring, Maryland. The contractor will provide historical and outreach services for the Non-Books Programs of the History of Medicine Division, National Library of Medicine. Dr. Cantor is an experienced historian with a Ph.D. in the history of medicine in the twentieth century. He has wide experience teaching, lecturing, conducting outreach activities, researching, and writing in the history of medicine and public health, including teaching introductory courses in the history of medicine, teaching advanced courses, and publishing articles in the social history of medicine. He serves on the executive committee of the Society for the Social History of Medicine. He has been the DeWitt Stettin, Jr., Memorial Fellow in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) History office of the Office of the Director of NIH, as well as a historian at the National Cancer Institute. He has prepared teaching materials for, and has a wide experience with a number of undergraduate and graduate university programs. His most recent experience has been on the history of cancer prevention and treatment, which has brought him as a researcher to use the manuscript and visual materials of the History of Medicine Division, NLM. He has also presented papers as part of the History of Medicine Division's Seminar series. This combination of education and experience makes him uniquely skilled to carry out the terms established in this purchase order. The period of performance is anticipated for a period of twelve (12) months. The proposed acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13 - Simplified Acquisitions. This is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsive sources may submit a proposal in a timely manner, which will be considered by NLM. Firms interested in responding to the notice must be able to provide the services as specified above. Responses must be in writing and must be received in the office within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice. Proposal must include pricing information and staffing criteria.
