Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Coherent Laser Group of Santa Clara, CA, for one (1) each Doubling System, Part Number MBD-200. The doubling system will be used for work under NIST's Homeland Security Project for measurements of low-levels of uranium and plutonium.***Sole source determination is based on the need for the doubling system to be 100% compatible with NIST's existing Coherent Technologies Model 899-21, Ti:Sa Laser. Coherent Laser Group is the sole manufacturer of this doubling system which is the only known equipment that is 100% compatible with the existing laser.***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required as soon as possible after receipt of order.***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by September 24, 2002, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
