- Lewis and Clark National Forest White Sulphur Springs (Meagher Co), Judith (Judith Basin Co), and Musselshell Ranger Districts (Meagher, Fergus Co). This prospectus provides initial information on a hand tree thinning solicitation for bid that may be advertised in the spring of 2003, for work to begin during June or July of 2003. Since these areas may be inaccessible during the advertising period, the following tour of the project area is scheduled for this fall in order that on-the ground conditions can be observed in advance of the proposed advertising period. Pre-Solicitation Showing: A Forest Service guided tour of the work areas is scheduled to leave the Belt Creek Ranger Station located on US highway 89, Neihart, MT at 9:00 AM on October 2, 2002. Prospective bidders should furnish 4 X 4 transportation and if desired a lunch. The Forest Service guide will show on the ground locations of the work areas, boundary markings, routes of travel that may be utilized in going to and from the work and other items concerning the ground to be worked. Interested parties desiring to visit the project sites on their own may obtain directions be contacting either John Metrione or Bob Gliko at the Belt Creek Ranger Station for the White Sulphur Springs District project areas at (406) 236-5511 and Mary Gonzales for the Musselshell and Judith Ranger District project areas at (406) 632-4391. Description and Location of Work: The solicitation may include approximately 39 acres on the White Sulphur Springs Ranger District and 120 acres on the Musselshell and Judith Ranger Districts (see attached maps). THE BID PACKAGE FOR THIS PROJECT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL APRIL OR MAY OF 2003
