Description
Conserve 34 oil paintings using conservation ethics and methods such as examination, scientific analysis, and research to determine original structure, materials, and extent of loss; stabilization of work to retard or stop deterioration process and documentation before, during and after treatment. Requirements: Contractor will pick up 34 artworks for conservation and return to the Naval Historical Museum at 1242 10Th SE Washington D.C, The Contractors treatment studio should be within 50 miles of Washington DC. The Contractor will provide written treatment reports for each artwork, listing material and processes as well as 35mm slides documenting condition before, during, and after treatment. The Contract will provide fine art insurance for artwork, while they are off U.S. Government premises. The contractor must meet the following minimum qualifications. 1: Training as a conservator, Graduate training program or by apprenticeship with experienced conservator. 2: Experience in conserving works of art in oils and acrylic or a variety of support media. Deliverables: are as follows: Phase 1: Contractor pick-up artwork at Navy art gallery and sign loan agreements 30 days after contact award. Contractor deliver 25% of treated artwork with final treatment reports for each slide or transparencies, 90 days and 25% of contract cost. Phase 2: Deliver 25% of treated artwork with final treatment report for each slide and transparencies, 90 days and 25% of contract cost. Phase 3: Deliver 25% of treated works on paper with final treatment reports for each and slides or transparencies, 180 days at 25% of contract cost. Phase 4: Deliver final 25% of treated works on paper with final treatment reports for each slide or transparency, 180 days at 25% of Contracts cost. Contractors travel is inclusive in fixed price of contract. Examination and pick up will take place at: Naval Historical Center Navy Art Collection 822 Sicard Street SE Washington Navy Yard Bldg. 67 Washington D.C 20374-5060 Period of performance is 365 days. Note: A site visit has been established with date and time for inspection of the artwork. The date is September 11, 2002 at 1:00P.P.M.
