- The Office Justice Programs(OJP), National Institute of Justice(NIJ) intends to award on a sole source basis a purchase order to the Charleston Police Department, 180 Lockwood Blvd., Charleston, South Carolina, 29403 in support of the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law(ISRCL) 16th International Conference in Charleston, South Carolina on December 6-10, 2002. The Charleston Police Department is the Conference Chair of this ISRCL conference and the theme of this years conference is "Technology and its Effects on Criminal Responsibility, Security, and Criminal Justice". The ISRCL is an international, non-governmental association of judges, legislators, lawyers, academics and governmental officials who have come together to work actively on the administration of criminal justice, both in their own jurisdictions and internationally. Because of the rapid advances in science and technology, NIJ considers this ISRCL conference timely and most beneficial to their criminal justice mission. The goal of this Conference is to address changing effects of crime and criminal justice by providing a current perspective on the implications of the advances in technology in different areas involving or related to crime and the enforcement of the criminal law.
