Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Ametek Advanced Measurement Technologies (ORTEC) of Oakridge, TN for the purchase of one (1) HPGe detector with A1 window, one (1) 3 liters dewar and, one (1) detector interface for non-SMART negative bias HPGe detector. ***Sole source determination is based on the need for this equipment to be completely compatible and interchangeable with existing HPGe systems presently used for development of standards and for routine measurements performed for nuclear power plants. This system will operate with the existing DIGIRAT system previously purchased from EG&G Instruments, Inc. (ORTEC). Ametek Advanced Measurement Technologies has currently obtained the ORTEC division from EG&G Instruments, Inc and is the only Contractor that can provide components that are 100% compatible with the existing system. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order. ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 421830, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by September 13, 2002. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
