- The Department of Energy (DOE) intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to Data Security, Inc. under 41USC 252(c)(1) one responsible source. The award will be for the purchase of a Model #950-0000 HD-6000 Degausser. The degausser has to be capable of purging classified/sensitive information from the media used by the Department of Energy, Albuquerque Operations Office. This equipment is unique in capability and no other manufacturer can meet the required specifications. This is a notice of intent to award sole-source and is not a request for competitive proposals. Firms who want to challenge the sole-source must submit an interest letter that demonstrates the firm's ability to provide an equivalent item, as described above. Interested parties must provide a price proposal and rationale as to why they should be considered. All interested firms must respond by 3:00p.m. MDT, September 4, 2002, to: Patsy J. Garcia, OCP, P.O. Box 5400, Albuquerque, NM 87185-5400 or to pgarcia@doeal.gov, A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed commercial item contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
