Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Laboratory of Molecular Cell Biology (LMCB), Center for Cancer Research (CCR) intends to enter into a sole-source contract with Innovative Directions, 2284 San Pablo Avenue, Suite 100, Pinole, CA 94564, for the procurement of a Basic-Z Benchtop Cell Disruptor w/.075 KW Power, 40K psi max pressure, 115VAC/60Hz. The LMCB investigates basic eellular processes of homeostasis, growth, division and differentiation, with an emphasis on the molecular biology of chromosomes and the cell nucleus. The LCMB is engaged in research on the structure of chromatin and how chromatin is unraveled to allow gene expression; as well as identification and characterization of interactions of chromosomal proteins and genes and the effects of these interacitons on gene expression. The LCMB analyzes proteins from a family of ATP-utilizing chromatin remodeling protein complexes, and their effects on genomo wide expression, this research requires a cell Disruptor to produce sufficient quantities of microbial or fungal cell lysate as starting material for biochemical purification of chromosomal proteins. The Basic Z is the only machine known to the government that is capable of high pressure disruption of cells in a highly reproducible and well contained manner, equipped with an internal relief valve fitted for reverse flow of cleaning fluids, flow rates from 30 ml/min to 80 ml/min, optional one-shot adaptor which enables handling of small sample volumes (1-8 ml). Innovative Directions, is the only known source to the government that can provode the above reuqirements with the unique features specified. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements with the unique features specified it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other furnished informaton must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if the party can fully meet the Government needs. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office no later than September 3, 2002. This action is pursuant to 41 USC 253(1) and under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirment based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. NAICS Code: 334516, bussines size standard is 500.
