- The U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) plans to amend its Small Business Size Regulations by incorporating the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) 2002 modifications of the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) into its table of small business size standards. These modifications are limited to industries in six (6) of the 20 NAICS Sectors. The modifications result in a small number of size standard changes to certain NAICS activities. On August 13, 2002, SBA published in the Federal Register both a direct final rule and a proposed rule to achieve this result. SBA believes that the subject of these rules is noncontroversial and routine, and SBA anticipates no adverse comments. If SBA receives no adverse comments to the direct final rule by September 12, 2002, it will take effect on October 1, 2002. If SBA receives negative comments to the direct final rule, SBA will withdraw it. SBA will address the comments to the direct final rule together with any comments to the proposed rule that it receives in a later final rule. Note: These Federal Register notices contained a number of formatting errors, primarily the deletion of dollar signs ($) that indicate monetary based size standards. The Federal Register will publish a correction in the near future, but the changes do not affect the size standards themselves. SBA will include the corrected Federal Register notices on this page after they are published. Comments are due by September 12, 2002.
