- 17. The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to issue a solicitation for management, execution, integration of the conversion of up to four Ohio Class Nuclear Powered Submarines (SSBN) to Ohio Class Guided Missile Nuclear Powered Submarines (SSGN). The SSGN effort consists of management, execution, and integration of the SSGN conversion effort and trade personnel (Tiger Team) support to install, test, and check out approved alteration packages on ships or shore based facilities. Solicitation N00024-03-R-2905 will be issued to Electric Boat Corporation (EBC), 75 Eastern Point Road, Groton, CT 06340 on a sole source basis. EBC is the sole designer, developer and builder of the OHIO Class submarines and possesses the unique set of skills, expertise, technical knowledge and required background necessary to perform management, execution, and integration of the conversion effort on a t imeline that supports the SSGN conversion schedule.
