Description
This project will consist of cold recycled asphalt base course and asphalt surfacing on 26.708 kilometers of roadway for CA PRA-DEVA 15(1) - Badwater Road, in Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, State of California. Estimated price range is between $4,000,000 and $8,000,000. Principal work items: 26.21 km template control staking; lump sum contractor testing; 33,000 m3 roadway excavation; 53 km shouldering and minor embankment; 283 m2 concrete masonry unit retaining wall; 4,929 metric tons aggregate base; 37,400 metric tons hot asphalt concrete pavement class B; 2,050 metric tons asphalt cement grade PBA-7; 3,000 metric tons minor hot asphalt concrete; 25.40 km continuous cold recycled asphalt base course type A; 1,060 metric tons emulsified binder agent; 422 m2 timber boardwalk; 875 m Portland cement concrete curb and gutter; 960 m2 fiber reinforced colored Portland cement concrete sidewalk; 4 gates (metal); 260 m pedestrian safety railing; along with associated surveying, staking, pavement markings (53 km temporary markings); fencing; seeding, traffic control (4,000 hrs flagging) and heavy equipment operators. The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontractor at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
