- Description
- NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a 9 month preventive maintenance period and emergency services for a Government-owned JEOL JXA-840A Electron Probe Microanalyzer and the JSM-6400 Scanning Electron Microscope. Period of Performance October 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from JEOL USA, Inc., Peabody MA, who is the only know source with the capability to meet agency requirements. JEOL is the manufacturer of these products and is the only source available that has access to the complete design drawings needed to perform the required maintenance. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on August 29, 2002. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications ARE NOT acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
