Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences has a requirement for an Electron Spin Resonance Spectrometer with PC interface and Optical Ports. Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) is the only technique capable of unequivocally detecting, and identifying free radicals in photochemical reactions in both solution and cells, and is critical to research in the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Chemistry. The Environmental Toxicology Program needs to purchase an upgrade for the current ESR spectrometer that will provide new electronics, microwave bridge and computer interface using the old magnet and power supply. The new system must include a high sensitivity resonator with an optical port that is essential for studies in which samples are irradiated during spectral acquisition. Additional requirements of the system are: hardware and software compatibility with current EMX ESR spectrometers; permit the use of existing accessories including a TM cylindrical cavity, variable temperature system and nitrogen Dewar; sensitivity measured using a standard weak pitch sample must exceed a signal-to- noise ratio of 1500:1; an automatic tuning bridge and calibration of cavity and phase each time a new sample is measured; and computer based data acquisition and spectral simulation software for solution and powder spectra. Submit request for solicitation in writing to the above address or FAX the request to (919)-541-5117 All request must include the solicitation number and be marked to the attention of James E. Bryant, Jr. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) code for this procurement is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees. The solicitation will be available on or about August 19, 2002. This acquisition is unrestricted. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered..
