- Description
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Woods Hole, MA, has a requirement for a handheld electronic data logging device for use at sea by domestic sea sampling observers to record data electronically. NEFSC is conducting a market search for hardware and software that meets performance specifications focusing on a ruggedized tablet and GPS technology as a first priority. Statement of Work: The successful bidder will provide 25 units of a device to meet the below referenced specifications. Deviations from these specifications must be described in detail with a justification as to why their particular unit should not be required to meet the specification. RUGGED TOUCHPAD SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements) Including Peripheral and/or Onboard Hardware and Software RUGGED PEN/TOUCH TABLET 500MHz or higher processing speed 256 KB L2 cache 256 MB DRAM At least 1 USB port Battery life: minimum 3 hours continuous use At least 20 GB internal shock resistive hard drive At least 2 sealable Type II PC Card slots Weight: 5 pounds or less Display: Resistive pen/touch screen 800x600 (SVGA) resolution; prefer 1024x768 (XVGA) 8" to 12" TFT Transflexive (indoor/ outdoor viewable) screen 8 MB of Video RAM Operating system and software: CIC PenX 2.x handwriting recognition or equivalent. MS Windows 2000 or XP MS Office 2000 or higher DURABLE DOCKING STATION Non-corrosive mobile docking station 2 Additional USB Ports 1 RS232 serial port 1 parallel port PC Card Slot AC Power Input Diskette drive Full-size keyboard Video port CONNECTIVITY Wireless communication (WAN/LAN) capable USB 10/100 Ethernet Adapter ADDITIONAL HARDWARE: GPS Unit, built-in or attachable via USB port or card slot. GPS capabilities shall be NMEA - 0183 Standard; Capable of supporting RMC GPS sentence; Preferably compliant with Garmin GPS-45, GPS-38 or GPS-65 Standard sentence types. Waterproof: IPX7 External CDR-W Waterproof and rugged carrying case with wheels (Pelican) Battery charger and 2 additional lithium ion batteries ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Tablet should be rugged and be in compliance with U.S. Government MIL-STD-810E standards. At a minimum: non-corrosive (MIL-STD-810E 509 Salt Fog); Able to withstand a possible drop from at least 3 feet (MIL-STD-810E 516 Free Fall Drop); Sealed to be water resistant (MIL-STD-810E 506); Operating Temperature operating tolerance of -4E - +140E Fahrenheit; resistant to vibrational stresses (MIL-STD-810E 514). Include documentation of MIL-STD_810E levels attained in each category and description of standard at that level. Offers received by September 9, 2002 will be considered for award. Product demonstrations in Woods Hole will be required of potential vendors after initial round of evaluations.
