- Description
- NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for: Item 1. High Speed Transmission (1 each) Item 2. Lube Supply (1 each) 1 to 5 speed increasing gear set capable of 18000 RPM maximum speed and 300hp. A high speed gearboxes are used extensively in Research and Development testing of hydrostatic bearings. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Cotta Transmission Company, P.O. Box 7427, Rockford,IL 611225. This recommendation is made pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:00 p.m. local time on August 22, 2002. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
