Description
17. The Naval Sea Systems Command, SEA 93, Advanced Systems and Technology Office (ASTO), Washington Navy Yard, Washington D.C. together with the Office of Naval Research (ONR), Arlington, VA is holding an Industry Day to discuss new and innovative designs and concepts in Submarine Tactical Control Technologies. The Industry Day will be held September 12, 2002 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. Attendance will be limited to two (2) representatives per organization. For detailed registration and attendance information please refer to the link below on the Internet. Final date to register your organization is August 23, 2002. The security classification for the event will be ?unclassified?. Background. The Navy has recently initiated the Advanced Processing Build ? Tactical (APB-T) Project, a process/product for infusing advanced Tactical Control T echnology into Submarine Combat Control Subsystems. An APB-T consists of Tactical Decision Aids that assist the Commanding Officer in achieving control of the tactical situation and making timely tactical decisions. Some examples of tactical control technology include development of advanced data fusion algorithms, target motion analysis, contact management, tactical scene rendering, sensor performance prediction models, search planning, option reduction, uncertainty management, acoustic and non-acoustic vulnerability management, close encounter decision management, automation, voyage planning, etc. Developmental products will be subjected to a peer review process, where candidate applications will be subjected to a rigorous data driven evaluation, and compared against similar products using objective criteria. As such, candidate products must be made available to the gover nment-designated agency for evaluation purposes. The mechanisms to provide products for evaluation will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. The preferred form is in a standalone executable form compatible with government supported test beds and data formats with a means to record, interpret, and assess information produced by the application. APB efforts traditionally address specific areas or components that demonstrate required performance and/or affordability improvement against defined threats in specified environments. Industry, Small Businesses, Small Disadvantaged Businesses, educational institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Institutions are encouraged to participate. Respondents to the planned ONR solicitation will be required to certify that they have an appropriate facility clearance to meet the security requirements of work pr oposed, and key personnel must be certified as holding an appropriate clearance. The Industry Day will focus on the historical and technical background of the APB-T Project, the production Combat System plans, an overview of the APB process, and a discussion of the likely requirements of the planned ONR solicitation for Advanced Tactical Control Technologies. You may register to attend the Industry Day at www.asto-nav.com (case sensitive) by clicking on the ?Calendar? button followed by the ?Submarine Tactical Control Technologies? link at September 2002 on the calendar menu. Please contact Ms. Holly Kichinko at H.Kichinko@StanelyAssociates.com, 202-741-1357 if you are unable to access the ASTO website.
