- USDA, APHIS, VS, Ames, IA intends to contract for Ventana Equipment to test for Scrapie and Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), known collectively as Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE) testing of up to 250,000 animals in FY 2002 and FY 2003. The Government intends to issue a sole source contract to Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., for Nexes Systems. The contract will be a firm fixed price, FOB destination and is being handled as a commercial item procurement in accordance with FAR Part 12. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals.
