Description
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to award on a sole source basis under Simplified Acquisition Procedures a Technical Assistance Workshop on ?Accessing, Utilizing, and Understanding CMS?s Medicare/Medicaid Data for African American Researchers? to Hampton University, School of Nursing, Department of Graduate Nursing Education, William Freeman Hall, Hampton, Virginia 23668. The contractor shall supply all the personnel, materials, and supplies needed to carry out this scope of work. The contractor shall have a thorough and demonstrable understanding of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), their needs and capabilities, and shall conduct communications with the appropriate HBCUs and their faculty members and researchers. The contractor will make contacts with the appropriate HBCUs about the "Data Users' Workshop: Developing Capacity and Skills for Using Medicare/Medicaid Data for African Americans Researchers at HBCU.? It shall facilitate the development and implementation of this workshop. The project will involve the following major tasks: l) Make direct contact with African American faculty members and researchers at HBCUs informing them about the workshop. (Month 1); 2) Send out invitation letters and agenda to the participants for the workshop. ( Month 1); 3) Carry out all logistics for the workshop, i.e., confirmation list, program support, lodging and meal, conference registration, name tags, materials, A/V equipment, workshops, and others. (One month-completion); 4) Provide for ORDI project officer review and approval of materials produced by the contractor to be mailed to the HBCUs researchers. (Regular Activity); 5) Work directly with ORDI project officer in coordinating the workshop activities. (Regular Activity). Hampton University, a dynamic, progressive institution of higher education, is a privately endowed, non-profit, non-sectarian, co-educational, historically black university. Founded in 1868 to educate the newly emancipated African Americans, the University has grown into a comprehensive university, offering a broad range of technical, liberal arts, pre-professional, professional, and graduate degree programs. For over 130 years, the University has held true to its mission-educating African Americans to be scholars and leaders locally, nationally, and internationally. The School of Nursing is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing, is fully accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The School of Nursing is an integral unit of Hampton University and shares its goals and ideas of excellence in the teaching-living-learning process. In 1976, Hampton University instituted a Master of Science degree program in nursing, making Hampton the first Historically Black College University (HBCU) to offer a master?s degree in nursing. In 1999, the School achieved another first when the University enrolled an inaugural class of six Ph.D. nursing students making Hampton?s program the first to be fully implemented at an HBCU. If there are no affirmative written responses received within (45) calendar days from the published date of this notice, a purchase order shall be awarded.
