- Description
- The U.S. Special Operations Command intends to increase, on a sole source basis, the maximum ordering quantity of production systems on two contracts which collectively comprise the Special Operations Forces Equipment Advanced Requirements (SPEAR) Modular Integrated Communication Helmet (MICH). This increase is necessary to ensure a sufficient quantity of this highly specialized equipment for the unanticipated increase in operations following the domestic terrorist attacks on the U.S. on 11 September 2001. The two contracts are as follows: USZA22-99-D-0008 and USZA22-00-D-0005, CGF Helmets; 30 Industrial Dr, Ste 10; Newport, VT 05855. Both contracts were awarded on a competitive basis. The maximum quantity of systems that can be ordered over the 5-year ordering period is currently 20,000 and will be increased to 70,000. The ordering period will not be extended, nor with the maximum quantity of spare parts be increased. Statutory authority for these sole source extensions is Title 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1. This notice is for informational purposes only; therefore no formal solicitation will result from this announcement.
