- Re-Advertisement of RFP-01-02-2001 PROJECT NAME: Discovery Points, San Bernardino National Forest PROJECT LOCATION: The project involves construction at several sites on the Mountaintop District of the San Bernardino National Forest, in the Big Bear Basin. Woodland Trailhead: Off Highway 38 travel 0.2 miles west of the Stanfield Cutoff. Cougar Crest Trailhead: 1.5 miles west of the Woodland Trailhead. Aspen Glen/Pineknot Trailhead: On the southshore of Big Bear Lake on Highway 18, travel southwest approximately 1/4th mile on Mill Creek Road. Castle Rock Trailhead: From Aspen Glen, travel approximately ? mile to 2N10, then 2.5 miles to Castle Rock. Champion Lodgepole: From Castle Rock on 2N10 travel ? mile to 2N11 then 1 mile on 2N11 to the trailhead. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The project involves construction at the above mentioned sites. At Woodland Trailhead the parking will be reconstructed as well as the installation of a single unit vault toilet. At Cougar Crest the parking will be resurfaced and restriped and a single unit vault toilet will be installed. At Aspen Glen, the parking area will be resurfaced along with accessible sidewalks to the existing restroom facility. The Pineknot Trailhead at this same site will have bulletin boards and direstional signs installed. The remaining trail sites Champion Lodgepole Pine Trailhead and the Castle Rock Trailhead will all have bulletin boards installed. For plans (on CD only) call Dave Droullard, 909-884-6634, ext. 3174.
