- The Air Force Institute of Environment Safety and Occupational Health Risk Analysis (AFIERA) intends to enter into a Cooperative Agreement with Sam Houston University/Texas Research Institute for Environmental Studies (TRIES), Huntsville, TX, for an estimated $ 1.1M. The requirement will be processed on a sole source basis as mandated by Congressional Appropriation Bill 2004, dated June 2002. NAIC Code 54171 has been assigned for this effort. The Cooperative Agreement provides for a joint environmental technology research and development Water/Wastewater Treatment Technologies Project with AFIERA. The intent of the AFIERA and TRIES agreement is to jointly address both hazardous and non-hazardous wastewater problems and environmental health issues confronting the border communities throughout the southwest border region of the United States and Department of Defense Industrial Facilities. The bench-level study will specifically focus on the cleanup of industrial waste streams before they are sent to wastewater treatment plants.
