Description: NA The US Army Communications-Electronic Command (CECOM) Acquisition Center will be making a sole source award to Dornier GmbH for two (2) additional Non-Developmental Item (NDI) Laser Obstacle Detection System (LODS) units and additional engineering support for integration into military test aircrafts under Contract DAAB07-02-C-K410. Contract DAAB07-02-C-K410 is a Research and Development effort for Helicopter LODS. The original acquisition was made under the Foreign Comparative Test Program, and a sole so urce award was made to European Aeronautic Defense and Space (EADS) Company Dornier GmbH, Friedrichshafen, Germany. Dornier GmbH is currently the only vendor to offer the NDI Helicopter Laser Sytem (HELLAS) that incorporates near infrared (NIR) technology , satisfies the Joint Service Aviation performance requirements for obstacle detection and avoidance, and includes Eye-Safe Laser and Optics. Technical data for the HELLAS system is proprietary to Dornier GmbH. The Period of Performance for the modificat ion will be from day of award to 28 September 2003. The modification will be Firm Fixed Price with a Time and Materials line item for vendor maintenance and technical support.
