Description
NA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, is soliciting for gatehouse masonry repairs which consist primarily of repairs to the interior and exterior brick surfaces of the gatehouse structure at the Knightville Dam in Huntington, Massachusett s. Major items of work include powerwashing and general cleaning of existing masonry surfaces, removing existing mortar from joints and repointing the joints with new mortar on walls as well as for the chimney (areas of about 2,860 square feet in total), constructing new expansion and control joints in existing masonry surfaces, removing approximately 250 cracked bricks and replacing them with new bricks of approved size and color, and removing existing caulking and applying new sealant. Additional work i tems include repairing an existing aluminum scupper with a new aluminum tube brace, and removing rust from and repainting steel lintel, door, and door frame. The gatehouse structure at the Knightville Dam is considered an historically significant structure, and as such, the work of this project is defined as historic preservation work. The contractor shall take the precautions necessary to not alter the appear ance of the gatehouse except as shown by the contract drawings and specifications or as authorized by the Contracting Officer. The solicitation shall be available on or about 29 July 2002. The estimated cost of the work is between $100,000 and $250,000. Work shall be accomplished within 120 calendar days from date of issuance of Notice to Proceed. Registration instructions and the media by which the solicitation will be issued are available at this Internet site to include viewer downloads. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New E ngland District. Applicable NAICS code for this acquisition is 235410 with a size standard of $12 million. This solicitation is unrestricted pursuant to Public Law 100-656, Small Business Competitive Demonstration Program.
