Description
The solicitation will be available at http://ideasec.nbc.gov Website on or about 07/25/02. TELEPHONE OR FAX REQUESTS FOR THE SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The work of this contract consists of general construction of a new classroom and laboratory facility involving renovations and additions to two existing wood-frame buildings. The existing buildings are located at the former North Truro Air Force Station, now part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. BASE BID: LABORATORY ARCHITECTURAL, PLUMBING AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS: This bid item consists of: general requirements, including coordination, cutting and patching, controls, temporary services and all work not specifically cited in other Bid Items; selective demolition of architectural components and related hardware; utility trenching and backfilling; grading, subbase and paving; supply and installation of a new plumbing system, including associated equipment, fixtures and devices; construction of interior partitions, doors, frames and associated door hardware; construction of new reinforced concrete equipment pads; construction of new wall, floor, ceiling and roof framing, sheathing, wood siding and trim, asphalt shingle roofing and flashing related to new roof penetrations (other than that required for Option No. 2 mechanical work), and thermal and moisture protection; interior architectural woodwork; specialties; interior and exterior finishes, including new finishes at exposed existing framing. OPTION 1: LABORATORY ELECTRICAL IMPROVEMENTS: This bid item consists of supply and installation of a new electrical system, including: lighting fixtures; fire detection/alarm system; building wiring, devices and conduit; cutting and patching of work installed under the Base Bid. OPTION NO. 2: LABORATORY HVAC IMPROVEMENTS: This bid item consists of supply and installation of an environmental control system for the building, including: mechanical equipment, ductwork, and controls; louvers and ventilators; cutting and patching of work installed under the Base Bid; roofing, flashing and sealants related to penetrations through roof and walls for mechanical systems. OPTION NO. 3: LABORATORY EXTERIOR EQUIPMENT SCREEN: This bid item consists of supply and installation of exterior equipment screens adjacent to the laboratory building, including concrete tube foundations, pressure treated posts and framing, shingles, finish carpentry and finishes. Note: adjacent concrete equipment pads shall be priced as part of Base Bid. OPTION NO. 4: CLASSROOM BUILDING ARCHITECTURAL, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS: This bid item consists of: general requirements, including coordination, cutting and patching, controls, temporary services and all work not specifically cited in other Bid Items; selective demolition of architectural components and related hardware; utility trenching and backfilling; grading, subbase and paving; supply and installation of new electrical system, lighting and fire detection/alarm system, and new plumbing system, including associated equipment, fixtures and devices; construction of interior partitions, doors, frames and associated door hardware; construction of new exterior ramp and landing, including railings, deck, framing and foundations; construction of new wall, floor, ceiling, and roof framing, subfloor, sheathing, wood siding and trim; asphalt shingle roofing and flashing related to new roof penetrations (other than that required for Option No. 5 mechanical work), and thermal and moisture protection; interior architectural woodwork; specialties; interior and exterior finishes, including new finishes at exposed existing framing. OPTION NO. 5: CLASSROOM BUILDING HVAC IMPROVEMENTS: This bid item consists of supply and installation of an environmental control system for the building, including: mechanical equipment, ductwork, and controls; louvers and ventilators; cutting and patching of work installed under Option No. 4; roofing, flashing and sealants related to penetrations through roof and walls for mechanical systems. A single award to be made.This Solicitation is issued pursuant to Public Law 100-656, Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, and is open to all concerns, regardless of size. The NAICS code is 23332. A single award will be made. The construction estimate is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.Contractors must register on the website in order to retrieve copies of the solicitation and any possible amendments. Instructions are contained on the website for downloading solicitation and attachments. It is the responsibility of all interested contractors to acknowledge ALL amendments to the solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered by the agency. .
