Description
The National Cancer Institute(NCI), Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, Radiation Epidemiology Branch (REB), plans to enter into a sole source contract with the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, 29 Nan Wei Road, Beijing, P.R. China 100050, to conduct two workshops on data collection for the Case-Cohort Study of Hematopoietic Malignacies, Hematotoxicity, and Lung Cancer in Chinese Benzene-Exposed Workers. The participants in these workshops will be from the coordinating center in Beijing (4 people) and from 12 research centers in China (36 people) involved in the study. These workshops will include, but not be limited to, testing data collection forms, discusing field manuals and standardizing techniques for interviewing, collecting and shipping biological samples, abstracting factory and occupational health records, and summarizing exposure assessment. These workshops will be an integral part of the progression of this endeavor and the results that will be evaluated at the end of this case-cohort study. The Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine is the only known source that has the necessary background experience with this study, the knowledge of available meeting sites, and enough familiarity with the participants to organize and conduct these workshops.
