NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Fundamental Technologies, LLC under the authority of 10.U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), Only One Responsible Source. This contract is for the operations of the IMP-8 Data Processing System newly developed by Fundamental Technologies, LLC. At present, the following four IMP Principal Investigator teams are to be supported as indicated above: Cosmic Ray Nuclear Composition at the University of Chicago, Goddard Medium Energy Experiment at Goddard Space Flight Center, Charged Particle Measurement Experiment at JHU/APL and Plasma Instrument at MIT. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on July 25, 2002. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
