Description
This requirement is for a closed-loop high pressure water blast system, with optional soluble abrasive injection, that will allow removal and containment of paint and non-skid from ship decks and other horizontal (or near horizontal) surfaces. The system shall also have provisions for blasting of other surfaces (tanks, bulkheads, etc.) via use of manually operated blast guns. The system is composed of three main parts that shall operate in conjunction with one another; a.) Ultra High Pressure Pump and Blast Guns, b.) Deck Blaster Assembly, and c.) Vacuum Generation & Filtration system. Specifically, the pump will generate pressurized water for the deck blaster using both fresh makeup water provided at the work site, and recycled water issued from the vacuum & filtration system. The deck blaster, while being manually controlled by an operator, will simultaneously blast and vacuum a horizontal surface. During operation of the deck blaster, the vacuum generation & filtration system will evacuate the wastewater and paint chips from the blaster, process the solid waste for disposal, and filter the water for reuse in the high pressure pump. For blasting other surfaces using the manually operated guns, the Vacuum & Filtration System will not be used. All accessories such as pumps, tanks, hoses, interconnecting piping/fittings, and control boxes necessary for this process shall also be provided by the offeror to satisfy the requirements of this specification. This procurement will be firm fixed price, includes requirements for logistics and technical data, and has provisions for a small amount of contract options. This requirement shall be fulfilled by supplying ?commercial items? (as defined in section 2.101 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations. This procurement will be 100% set-aside for Small Business participation. Estimated date for issue of the Request for Proposals is 26 July 2002.
