- Description
- Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with Cantrawl Pacific for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Purpose of proposed contract is to purchase a Model 400/580 midwater trawl. The NMFS Auke Bay Laboratory currently uses this trawl with Net Systems 5.0 meter alloy trawl doors during large-scale surveys of the Eastern Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska. These large-scale surveys target salmon and other near-surface species. These surveys quantify the relative abundance of these species. Net and door standardization is necessary to compare survey abundance estimates between areas and years. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000.
