Description

Summore Change Roads. This construction project consists of the following items of work, but is not limited to these items: furnishing all labor, material, equipment, tools, transportation, supplies, and performing all work necessary for the construction of 13.3 Km of new road and reconstruction of 56.28 Km of existing road. The work includes survey, design, construction staking, clearing, grubbing and excavation. Furnish, haul and place shot rock borrow excavation on the traveled way including turnouts, culvert installation, transport and install government furnished prefabricated bridges; quality control and quantity measurement, certification for quality and quantity, reconditioning roadbed, brushing, mobilization, pit development and seeding and fertilizing. The project is located on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska near the unincorporated community of Whale Pass. Prince of Wales Island is accessible to the Alaska Marine Highway, via the IFA ferry, at Hollis, Alaska. Access can also be made by boat, plane or helicopter. A pre-bid meeting and tour will be conducted. Each road in the project shall have a specific performance period measured in calendar days. Work to be initiated with separate Notices to Proceed for each road. Estimated start work date is July 2002. Estimated price range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. All responsible sources may submit a bid that will be considered. Award of this project to be accomplished under Full and Open Competition, pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The solicitation and drawings will be available for downloading at http://www.fedbizops.gov on the solicitation issue date. It will be the responsibility of the bidder to check Fedbizopps for any amendments to the solicitation or this announcement.
