- NASA/DFRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the following solid state storage drives: One (1) each 2.5GB, IDE/ATA 9mb/sec sustained read/write, ATA-4 ANSI standard, temperature range: 40?C to 85?C, pressure altitude 70,000 feet or better, shock to MIL-STD-810C; One (1) each 17.4GB, IDE/ATA 28 mb/sec sustained read/write, ATA-4 ANSI standard, temperature range: 40?C to 85?C pressure altitude 70,000 feet or better, shock to MIL-STD-810C. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/DFRC intends to purchase the above items from BITMICRO Networks, Incorporated of Fremont, California on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1), "only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements". BITMICRO Networks, Incorporated is the sole manufacturer and distributor able to replace the existing storage device without modifications. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. PST on June 27, 2002. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
