- Description
- NOTICE OF INTENT. The U.S. Customs Service (USCS) intends to solicit and award a sole source contract to Advanced Research & Applications Corporation (ARACOR) of Sunnyvale, CA, for four sea cargo container inspection systems with options to purchase up to four additional units. The requirement will be processed under the authority of 10 USC 2304(c)(1), Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Please note specifically FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii), which gives agencies the authority to award a follow-on contrct for the continued development or production of a major system or highly specialized equipment, including major components thereof, when it is likely that award to any other source would result in --(A) Substantial duplication of costs to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition; or (B) Unacceptable delays in fulfilling the agency's requirements (10 USC 2304(d)(1)(B)). The prototype unit was developed at Government expense under a contract (N00178-97-C-1006) awarded as a result of a white paper submitted under a BAA (N00178-97-Q-1032). THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. No telephone inquiries.
