Description
NA Notification is given of the intention of the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center, CRREL, located in Hanover, NH to award a sole source commercial purchase order to Geometrics, Inc. in San Jose, CA under the authority of 10 U.S.C 2304 ( C ) (1 ). This is to purchase seismograph equipment that must interface with existing seismic and acoustic recording systems, sensors, cabling, software and training. Equipment shall have a commercial warranty. The data formats must conform with Society of E xploration Geophysicists (SEG) formats. The seismograph must be extremely robust for use in environments that will destroy non-hardened seismographs. A firm-fixed price award will be made utilizing the Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Any other respon sible source may identify their interest and capability by responding to this announcement within 15 days after its publication. This is not a request for quotations and there is no solicitation available at this time. Equipment Specifications: Digital field seismograph, 48 channels, consisting of two sub-units of 24 channels. Each sub-unit has at least two built-in high-speed connections to interface with other sub-units and a PC-compatible controller. Suitable for reflection, refraction, downho le, cross-hole, surface wave, and tomography surveys, and vibration and earthquake monitoring. Records 24-bit data from signals of 0.6 Hz to 20 kHz. Sample intervals from 100 microseconds to 16 milliseconds. Data are transferred back to host computer for s torage in standard SEG formats (including SEG2) on hard drive or other user-approved media. The data stream from each seismograph node in the network must be transmittable over a standard TCP/IP 10MB/s network to a controlling computer for permanent storag e and processing. Built-in pretrigger and 64,000 sample memory for each channel. Software selectable low-cut, high-cut, and notch real-time digital display filters for noise reduction. Also performs in-field quality control functions. Operating temperature range: -20 F to +120 F (-29 C to +49 C). Includes PC software refraction and reflection data processing and analysis, and software to control sub-units from a PC. Each sub-unit must be packaged in a ruggedized, shock-absorbing, waterproof case with handle, total weight no more than 10 lb. Must op erate 10 hours continuously from a small 12V battery. Includes: two cables to interconnect sub-units, terminated with MIL-C-10544 10-contact connectors; one 25-m digital interface cable to connect one sub-unit to the controlling PC; instruction manual. GPS CLOCK. Each sub-unit includes a gps clock to provide world time records in each data record. All channels must be time synchronized with errors of 10 ms or less. GPS clock is powered by the same battery as the seismograph. OPERATING SOFTWARE to operate from one to eight sub-units. Software controls seismic data acquisition, transfer, display, and storage in SEG2, Y, or D formats. Includes real-time waterfall noise monitor, high-cut, notch, and low-cut digital acquisition and display filters, and various plotting styles. Manages shared sub-unit triggering via digital interconnect cables; minimizes the amount of trigger cable needed by allowing the source trigger to be directly connected to the nearest sub-unit. Software also f eatures high-speed correlation, tape-writing, geophone pulse testing, internal sub-unit digital testing, and channel rollalong for reflection surveys. Includes Tape Reader utility software for viewing tape data and converting SEG2-formatted data to ASCII. Software includes self-triggering software, memory of 64,000 data samples per channel, non-standard preamp gains, and analog instrument testing. Software will interface with PCs running Windows 95, 98, NT, or Me, with a Pentium processor, and at least 64 M b RAM, 2 Gb hard drive, and networking capability via PCMCIA card slot or internal network card. The software includes one 10/100 LAN PCMCIA card an d one sub-unit interface box. Software is licensed for at least two controlling PCs. Cables and connectors (Bendix PT06-24-61S(SR) socket-ended) to connect each 24-channel sub-unit to two 12-geophone input cables.
