Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole source purchase order with Dr. Ravikiran Attota to evaluate the performance of the optical microscope for the Precision Engineering Division. Proper alignment of the optics in the optical microscope is critical for the success of the project as the data obtained depends on this. The microscope currently used was built in-house and has several parts that need to be aligned for its optimal performance. Dr. Attota has worked closely with NIST and SEMATECH and has the expertise, extensive experience in our code and hardware, as well as the specific knowledge to perform these tasks. He is capable of developing our software code immediately in Matlab to analyze images obtained using optical microscopes and scanning probe microscopes. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price purchase order on or about July 12, 2002. The proposed requirement is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, the Government will consider all capability statements received by July 5, 2002. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available.
