Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with General Dynamics Robot Systems, of Westminster, MD, for acquisition of a Ladar Sensor System. The Ladar will be used by NIST's Intelligent Systems Division in a project to develop advanced controllers for unmanned vehicles. The unmanned vehicles use Ladar sensors to detect the terrain in front of the vehicle and decide how to steer to avoid obstacles and arrive at the commanded location.*****Sole source determination is based on the need for compatibility between the unmanned vehicle in existence at NIST and the Ladar sensor system. General Dynamics Robot Systems is the only source able to supply a Ladar that is compatible with the existing unmanned vehicle (also built by General Dynamics). *****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within nine (9) months or less after receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by June 17, 2002, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*****
