- Description
- The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals for Armed Guard Officers, Supervisors and Project Managers services for the Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center at Dulles Airport located in Herndon, Virginia. The scope of work includes a minimum of monitoring security and fire protection systems; notifying emergency personnel; screening incoming mail/packages; operating x-ray machines; logging deliveries and outgoing shipments; performing inspections and monitoring control room operations; and patrolling and inspecting locks, doors, exhibit areas. The contractor services may include 16 Armed Security Guards, four Supervisors and one Project Manager on duty daily; and range from part-time to full-time (24 hours a day, seven days a week), on-call basis, and include weekends, holidays or night duty. It is anticipated that this contract will begin on October 1, 2002 and end on September 30, 2003. Four one-year option years are planned for the beginning of October 1, 2003 and ending on September 30, 2007.
