Description
NASA/KSC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for payload processing capability necessary to support the IceChip mission. IceChip consists of two satellites (IceSat and ChipSat) currently scheduled for launch aboard a Delta II rocket in late 2002. The successful offeror will provide the processing facility and processing support services necessary for IceChip personnel to prepare the satellites for launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB), California. Processing activity at the successful offeror's site is expected to begin in late September 2002. More detailed schedules and requirements definitions will be contained in the RFQ. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 541710 and 1500 employees, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO-C9. The anticipated release date of RFQ-10-02-0029 is on or about June 10, 2002 with an anticipated quote due date of on or about July 8, 2002. All qualified responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
