Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI) as described under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 15.201(e). FAR 52.215-3 applies. The U.S. Department of Treasury Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has an existing requirement to identify, move and track its inventory of paper, dyes, inks and other materials through its production process and as finished goods into shipping. The BEP has determined that commercially available equipment and associated software could greatly increase the automation of the current storage, retrieval and delivery system, and the tracking of materials and finished goods through the process. Industry comment is sought regarding the requirements as stated under the attached MS Word 2000 document entitled, ?Acquisition for Automated Storage, Retrieval, and Delivery System?, and the attached MS PowerPoint 2000 document which shows the floor-space requirements. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for bid and proposal expenses regarding any response or follow-up to this RFI. You are encouraged to respond to this RFI if you possess the requisite system and software. The BEP will utilize any responses to this RFI, together with any prior market research, to formulate BEP's requirements for any request for proposals which might develop at a future date. Potential respondees to this RFI should contact Mr. James Swann directly at 202-874-0108 regarding an appointment to tour the applicable facilities; the BEP reserves the right to limit tours to vendors of interest to the BEP; specifically, to those vendors who have previously developed and/or sold all or portions of the requisite system and software as defined above. The time and place for submission of a written response to this RFI is as identified earlier in this notice.
