Description
NA DESC: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District (CENWP) intends to award a contract for temporary turbine intake roofs, at The Dalles Dam. The Dalles Lock and Dam is located within Klickitat County, Washington, on the Columbia River at River Mil e 192. The Dalles Dam is approximately 88 miles west of Portland, Oregon. This construction project requires the fabrication, underwater installation, and underwater removal of three steel turbine intake roofs in the three intake bays of main unit 5. Th e river level at the dam forebay is at approximately elevation 160. The turbine intake roofs will be installed at approximately elevation 100. The turbine intake roofs are a temporary structure. Removal of the turbine intake roofs will be required. Prim arily marine-based equipment will be required to safely perform the work. Diving work is anticipated. Estimated weights of features to be handled range from 10,000 pounds to 35,000 pounds. Removal and re-installation of the existing features, among them ; J-frames, trashrack-blocking panels, dogging frames, and trash racks, is required. Some repair work and modification of existing features is required. The Government will be performing three turbine efficiency tests during the construction project. Th e installation and removal work will mainly be performed from November 2002 through February 2003. This procurement is open to small and large business concerns. The size standard for small business is $28.5 million average annual receipts over the past t hree years. If the apparent low bidder is a large business, a sub-contracting plan will be required. The estimated cost range for the construction project is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The Invitation for Bid will be available on CD-ROM on or about 27 June 2002.
