- Purchase and install a 350000 BTU roof mounted air conditioner system on 16 each Chevy G-30 vans with a 5.7L diesel engine The system will be roof-mounted in the front of cargo box with directional venting blowing towards the rear of the vehicle. Purchase and install a 35000 BTU roof-mounted air conditioner system on 1 each Dodge Carryall with a 5.2L gas engine. The air conditioner systems will be roof-mounted in the rear with directional venting blowing toward the front of the vehicle. The factory installed air conditioner systems will work in conjunction with the roof-mounted unit. A dash mounted on/off switch will be used to power the roof-mounted unit only with the engine running. The temperature control, if equipped, can be mounted to the roof-mounted system. The air conditioner system will run off of, and be powered by, one engine mounted compressor capable of running the roof unit to peak efficiency. All related components like the receiver dryer, condenser, and associated parts will be securely mounted in locations that will not interfere with normal operation of the vehicle engine. The contractor will notify 56 Transportation Squadron, Fleet Support Section if any modifications are needed to accomplish the installation of the air conditioner system. The condensation lines from the roof-mounted system will be routed inside across the roof to passenger side of the wall and routed outside through the floorboard for drainage. The freon used will be R134a with an identification label attached to the engine compartment specifying system quantity. The contractor will provide a parts book, operating, maintenance, and installation instructions per system. Contractor will furnish no less than 12 months warranty on all parts and labor per system from the start of Air Force acceptance date. Some vans have factory equipped air condition systems. The contractor will ensure the factory-equipped compressor is capable of running the roof-mounted system to peak efficiency. If the factory-equipped compressor is not capable, then a new one will be installed; however, approval must be sought prior to installation for cost consideration.
