Description
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Dominican Republic is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to implement its School Sponsorship Project under a two-year contract, with an option to extend for another two-year term. USAID/DR wishes to facilitate public-private partnerships for educational improvement through a model of school sponsorship by private firms and NGOs. The primary strategy for this initiative consist of replicating a sponsorship model - based on the successful Fundacion Falconbridge experience, an NGO dedicated to improving education - with ongoing technical assistance to the organizations involved in the project. This project will concentrate on those geographic areas of the Dominican Republic where local development associations and private enterprise have demonstrated an interest in improving Basic Education. The successful model incorporates a variety of interventions, including infrastructure repair, parents' guidance workshops, empowerment of school principals, teacher training programs in classroom techniques, and greater use of information technologies for teaching and learning. This activity is scheduled to begin on/about September 2002. The deadline for receipt of proposals will be July 23, 2002. The RFP will be available on/about June 10, 2002. Please e-mail requests for the RFP to sxavier@usaid.gov. Interested offerors may also request the RFP on an electronic diskette by providing a self-addressed stamped envelope. Telephone requests will not be honored. All responsible sources may submit a proposal for consideration by USAID/Dominican Republic. Receipt of this RFP through INTERNET must be confirmed by e-mail or written notification to the contact person noted below. It is the responsibility of the offeror of this solicitation document to ensure that it has been received from INTERNET in its entirety, and USAID bears no responsibility for data errors resulting from transmission or conversion processes.
