Description
NOTICE OF INTENT. The U. S. Customs Service (USCS) intends to solicit and award on a sole source basis a requirement to SAIC, 16701 W. Bernardo Drive, San Diego, CA 92127 to upgrade thirteen SAIC manufactured Rail VACIS systems using Cesium-137 to Cobalt-60. The upgrade will increase the penetration capabilities of the systems, thus better enabling system operators to detect and locate concealed contraband. No other company has the proprietary systems knowledge required to perform the upgrade and allowing another company to attempt the upgrade would void existing SAIC warranties. The requirement will be processed under the authority of 41 USC 253(c)(1), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. No telephone inquiries accepted.
