- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs, John D. Dingell Medical Center, 4646 John R. Street, Detroit, MI 48201, and Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System, 2215 Fuller Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48105, medical record coders and billers. Contractor shall provide 7 to 10 coders and 2 billers to the VA Detroit and 5 billers and 5 coders to the VAAAHS. Offeror is to provide a level of coding expertise and activities as they relate to the integreity, quality and assignment of International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM), Current Porcedural Terminology (CPT-4) and HCFA Common Procedural Coding Systems (HCPCS) codes to encounters/episodes of care withic is reflected in the outpatient Patient Care Encounter (PCE) and the inpatient Patient Treatment File (PTF) data base. Contract coders shall have current credentials of a Cerfified Coding Specialist (CCS), a Certified Professional Coder (CPC of CPC-H), a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health Information Techinician (RHIT). A strong background in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, ICD-9-CM coding conventions and principles, CPT coding conventions and principles, knowledge outpatient hospital records and "Evaluation and Management" level assigning is essintial. Coders must pass a test given by the VA, at the VA, before they can be hired under this contract. The test will only be given to qualified offerors employees. All request for the solicitation must include at a minimum, company name, address, telephone number, solicitation number and point of contact. No e-mail request will be honored. All request must be in writing addressed to the contracting officer. Numbered note one applies to this procurement.
