Description
The Office of Public Health and Science, (OPHS), Office on Women's Health (OWH) through the Program Support Center plans to award a 6 month sole source contract to The Mautner Project for Lesbians with Cancer, 1707 L Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20036, by using simplified acquisition procedures. The anticipated date of award is May 13, 2002. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Service's Office on Women's Health (OWH) realizes the need to address the health issues of lesbian women. The National Lesbian Health Conference 2002: Healing Works! will address a broad range of these issues, including best practices in Prevention and Screening; Early Detection and Treatment; Policy Issues; Lifespan Issues; Reproductive Health; Complimentary and Alternative Medicine; Access to Care; HIV/AIDS; Research and Methods; Mental Health Issues; and Substance Abuse; Survivorship; and Caregiving. This conference will continue the important work and success of the First National Lesbian Health Conference (2001) by bringing together more than 250 health care providers, medical and social researchers, caregivers, cancer survivors, grassroots activists, public policy advocates and federal and local government officials from across the country to exchange information about all aspects of lesbian health and to showcase the significant "healing works" already in progress. The contractor shall be responsible for but not limited to the following tasks: The Contractor shall develop and provide documentation or deliver to Project officer conference announcement, call for papers Contractor shall publicize the National Lesbian Health Conference: Healing Works! 2002 in major LGBT media outlets, web sites and the major city pride events. Contractor shall develop travel scholarship selection criteria for workshop and plenary speakers and grant up to forty (40) travel scholarships of up to $400.00 each to select recipients and reimburse selected plenary speakers for a designated percentage of travel and honorarium. Travel scholarship recipients will be selected before August 15, 2002. Contractor shall select, compile and deliver to the Project Officer all abstracts to be presented as papers for conference and conference agenda, on or before July 1, 2002. Contractor shall prepare and deliver to the Project Officer a camera-ready copy of the program, due on or before August 1, 2002 Contractor shall convene the National Lesbian Health Conference 2002: Healing Works on September 25-28, 2002. Contractor shall provide copies of all press releases and copies of articles related to the conference on or before October 31, 2002. Contractor shall develop and deliver to the Project Officer a Final Report that shall include highlights from the conference and abstracts from the papers presented, due on or before November 30, 2002. The proposed simplified acquisition is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source Under authority of far 6.302. Interested persons may identify Their interest by responding to the requirement within 10 days After the date of publication of this notice. A determination by The government not to compete this proposed simplified acquisition Based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion Of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation is available.
